As a global leader shaping the built environment, Mace took on a large and complex construction project to extend one of the biggest European airports, partnering with Buildots for its strong AI-based technology.

Challenge
The airport extension, which included eight new gates, was a complex project to deliver. Initially, Mace relied on manual processes to track progress, gather data and compare planned versus actual completion. To improve efficiency and maintain smooth delivery, the team began looking for a more streamlined, data-driven approach.

“With Buildots, we see the progress rates of various subcontractors based on facts. Rather than focus solely on progress, we could look forward and discuss next steps in our trade meetings.”
Kelly Gaillard, Construction Project Manager | Mace
Solution
By fully automating progress tracking, Buildots' AI-based solution showed when specific tasks started and finished, while flagging activities that were falling behind. It also revealed how minor delays were accumulating into larger issues. This would have been difficult to detect using manual processes.
Results
Mace identified a gap of 4,200 work hours using automated reports to determine whether tasks had been completed. This empowered project managers to quickly take corrective actions and avoid further delays.
Mace is a global leader shaping the built environment. From iconic skyscrapers to hyper-scale infrastructure projects, state-of-the-art data centers to life sciences facilities, it has risen to the challenges of our rapidly changing world for over 35 years.
