Global construction benchmarks report

This is how real projects run.

These new construction performance benchmarks are based on anonymized, aggregated data from hundreds of global projects.

A new way of measuring construction performance.

Construction is one of the world's largest industries, yet objective performance metrics remain limited. Many widely cited construction statistics rely on self-reported surveys or retrospective reporting. This report is built differently. It draws on anonymized, aggregated data from global projects, filtered against strict data quality thresholds.

These are benchmarks grounded in what actually happened on site. Work is measured activity by activity, element by element, week by week, providing an objective view of construction performance as it really occurs. Our metrics also extend into physical production numbers: the feet, square feet, and pieces actually installed each week across 21 core construction activities, benchmarked against the rates their schedules assumed.

In this report, we answer four key questions:

  1. Are projects staying on schedule? Measured by schedule adherence, on-time start rate, and completion overrun.
  2. How does actual weekly output compare with what plans assume? Measured by actual vs. planned production benchmarks.
  3. How much more can sites build in their best weeks vs. a typical week? Measured by peak vs. typical output variance
  4. Which trades keep work on plan (and which are prone to delays)? Measured by trade schedule adherence.

“Setting projects up for success… starts with the right targets. This benchmark data is a gift we haven’t had before, offering objective, industry-wide insights into what production actually looks like.”
