How IHP used AI to drive efficiency on this hospital project
Key results
Critical path delays reduced
Thanks to early issue detection
2-3 days per week saved
Previously spent manually gathering data for meetings
On the Royal Bournemouth Hospital BEACH project, led by IHP (Sir Robert McAlpine and VINCI Building), Buildots’ AI brought a new level of control to site operations. With objective progress data from the field, teams tracked trades more effectively, improved weekly planning, and stayed ahead of potential delays.

Challenge
Healthcare projects are uniquely challenging because of their complexity and the large network of stakeholders involved. They’re also high-profile within communities and publicly funded, which adds extra pressure to deliver successfully. IHP recognized this and turned to Buildots to help improve communication and reduce risk to delivery timelines.

“We’re proud to be the first NHS transformation project embracing Buildots' tech to efficiently track build progress compared with design and schedule, helping ensure we remain on course.”

Results
IHP used Buildots' insights to mitigate delay risk and safeguard the critical path. It also benefited from substantial weekly time savings.
- Weekly plan optimization: Boosting weekly goal achievement with the Work Plan feature helped IHP to meet more of its short-term objectives.
- Delay risk mitigation: Identifying deviations along the critical path allowed projected end dates to move forward.
- Enhanced forecasting: Predictions from automated progress tracking enabled proactive, data-driven planning to ensure deadlines were met.
- Subcontractor collaboration: IHP facilitated trust-based relationships with subcontractors through full transparency in progress tracking and short-term planning.

“Buildots has transformed our weekly planning meetings. It enables us to set plans based on the project's real-time status and track completion rates effectively. It significantly enhanced our planning and tracking process, as well as trade collaboration.”
